Merry Christmas 2011!!!

Had a quiet christmas eve spent with my parents here at home.

Nice feeling + good cooling weather

Well, it must have been a real built up for Jordan.
Seeing all the presents undet the tree since early this week
And he kept reminding himself that he's going to open his presents on Christmas day.

Love the look on his face when he opened up those presents
Trying to hide his smile but was too happy to stop smiling

Spent a wonderful Christmas evening with our dear friends.

Jordan enjoyed himself sooo much! Mingled totally into the crowd. Look at the video, you can tell. From a 50-first-dates kinda boy (takes very long to warm up), he transformed into a ra-ra boy that night.

We have got weddings on every week & 2 in certain ones even, & they are even on the same day!

Love the feeling when I don't have to race the clock.

Woke up this morning by hungry Elly wanting her milk.

She is so sweet. She doesn't scream from her room that she's hungry. She will walk all the way to our room and wake us up for milk. Something different from her brother

Prepare them and brought them to the car with Kenneth.

Elly will wave to everyone she sees along the way. Making everyone's day :)

She is so cute and welcoming.
While Jordan is fun and shy. Interesting to see that they are learning from each other while being so unique.

God is good.

Went back home.

Tidied their bed and my messy preparation desk.

Cooked myself some macaroni breakfast. Yummy! My fav.

Ok. I better get going and finish my food. Do some last revision before my 4 hr exam

Jordan put on (I wouldn't say dress up) his cookie monster shirt. Getting all ready and excite for school.

Today both Kenneth and I sent him to his class.

Ms Zhang went on and on abt how he can improve. That I need to train him in his guts

My boy was sensitivity. He was holding back his tears and moved slowly to my side. He almost burst into tears.

Oh man.. Can't forget this scene in my mind.

This boy is build with emotions.
Love it an proud of him coz this means he will grow to love and care.
This was our prayer when I was preggy with him.

Lord, I pray you give Jordan boldness. Boldness to love in a great measure. A tender yet strong heart to face the world and challenges ahead of him.

She likes colors. She will imitate her brother to dip some water and take the colors from the palette. :)

One time she dropped her brush, she went down her chair and pick it up so that she can continue painting

Jordan is perpetually sick even since he started school.

We are informed that will probably go on for about half a year before his immune system gets stronger.

Well, I think childcare centers are really deadly. Kids just get sick so often!

Kenneth is down with flu, myself, Elly, my SIL.

My MIL is down with fever.

We decided to go with True Fitness

We had a good trial workout session, sat down & went through their sales talk... ... then rushed for service!

Reached there at about 2pm? & man would I ever expect the whole session to end at 5:15pm!!!

Pretty annoyed that I couldn't leave for service & be there on time... but anyway, we signed up

Touring around

Started our day with a tour around Bangkok City
6:30am - Breakfast
7:30am - Set off

1st stop was at River City

Alighted the mini bus & up the boat
•••••••

The boat was selling these orchids for 20baht as tips for the "captain"

The houses we saw along the river
Was told that when the tides does get extreme, the floor would be flooded & electrical appliances have to be brought up to higher levels or places...

Then the tour continued with some temple visits, gem gallery & honey factory

Outside the temple, there were lots of HUGE fishes! The guide mentioned that in those areas, no fishing was allowed as the area was considered holy & spiritual. Only feeding is allowed, hence the "obese" fishes

We joined in the fun feeding bread to the fishes... Another 20baht

Guess Serena enjoyed herself telling me she had great buys! The trip's all worth it looking at how happy she can be

After a few stops, I started sitting down at rest spots on each level while she shopped. I zzzzzzzz till that level was conquered! Ha ha

Yesterday, we had already shifted from Room 413 (double bedded) to 312 upon check in...

However, our 312 room had twin beds joined together to form a "king-sized" bed...

No electrical socket on the wall... After searching, we found a wire dangling put of the wall with a socket & used that! Thank God we brought an extension cord + multiple plug

There would be a mini flood in the bathroom every time we use it
=======
The TV would "lag" & "buffer" every once in a while...
=======
There were curtains in the room but after looking behind it, we realized there were no windows in the unit
=======
Holes in the bed sheet...
=======
Serena couldn't sleep well & she felt itchy...
=======
Hence the decision to change room...
ONLY AFTER ONE NIGHT!

Upgraded & paid for the difference... We were from the "Standard" room

Upgraded to the best room that had... It looked much better...

It even had a balcony...
But it was under construction. Lol
I really had a good laugh

Well, I enjoyed myself though
Knowing that this is a budget hotel
It was fun & I didn't expect much from the beginning anyway

Average buffet dinner & saw that the tickets were selling at 1,800 -2,500 BHT excluding dinner which we got a deal at 1,400 BHT including a dinner buffet + transport to & fro! I wonder how the pricing goes about???

Zoo outing with J and E

We went to the Singapore Zoo.

Jordan anticipated this outing for a long time... (for a 2 year old, 15 mins is LONGGG time anyway)

Friday night, tucking him to bed. Daddy told him that we are going to the zoo the next day and he has to sleep early.

Prayed for good weather and good energy.

He slept with GREAT anticipation.

Next day morning, the clouds were dark and heavy.

Daddy casually asked, should we cancel zoo? Looks like it's going to rain

Jordan kept quiet.

We packed and went out

In the car, it started drizzling, wipers on..

Jordan shouted, "OH NO! Rain go AWAY!.... NO Rain!"

We realized he was observing the weather closely.

This boy really wanted to go to the zoo. In his mind, he has pictured zebra, lion, giraffe, tiger, and monkeys..

Prayed again and he continued to panic

Let's just trust God. He kept quiet.

Picked up Gonggong and mama. We went ahead to the zoo.

He was jumping up and down when we alighted at the zoo. Elly was laughing too.

hahaha

While heading to see the elephants..

First animal we saw - White tiger. Powerful animal. Scary at the same time. It was pacing left and right as if it's going to jump over the waters and have us for his brunch.

Jordan scared but enjoyed watching it.

Rained heavily.. we stopped and rested a while.

Had our breakfast.

Saw the sea lion show

We enjoyed the show.. especially the kids :)

Went on to look at the monkeys

The elephant show

Visited some other animals like deer, zebra, giraffe, cheetah... etc

Also the garden where we get to see some plants like chilli plant, lady's finger, yam and so on.

It was all fun..

Exhausted after half a day in the zoo

Had Ice cream and pizza

And we went back to cast our vote for our 7th President of Singapore. :)

Congratulations to President Dr Tony Tan. Please make a difference for Singapore as promised.

I was just talking to a friend about weddings & realized that wedding banquets are getting more expensive as the years go by

However, as an attendee of weddings, that reality has barely struck me

The last time I know (of the market rate!) of wedding cost in detail was my own
Few hundred per table, almost reaching 1K for restaurants
1-1.3K for hotels

So giving the min red packets of $100-$150 was quite the norm, & I can even say it's a blessing for the couple

& seems like hotels are a fairy tale wedding for most

Elly's growing day by day!

& it's been such a great joy watching her progress & hitting the various milestones

The last 1-2 weeks have been a leap for her... a growth spur

She started walking, talking, dancing, conversing...

All these probably started when she started to dance one night

=======

Serena was taking a shower one night, after a long tiring day at work,

& I was playing with the kids in the living room

Talked to the kids & suggested we surprise mummy with a "performance"

Started humming a song & Elly started 'dancing'

When Jordan saw what she did, he joined in too!

Before we knew it, a 'dance' was choreographed!!!

She's been watching a Barney DVD & they were singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars"

As a birthday present for Elly (she's turning one year old soon).

We decided to give her a princess room!

Alot of effort from Kenneth and I. We were totally worn out after fixing 2 wardrobes, 1 bed and 1 set of kiddy table and chairs. Phew.. We are really not the pros in this area.

But looking at the before and after..

Definitely SATISFYING.

Also the little folks expression when they first saw their revamped room

A FATHER'S RULES FOR FINDING FULFILMENT

Be courteous, be punctual, always say please and thank you, and be sure to hold your knife and fork properly. Others take their cue on how to treat you from your manners.

Be kind, considerate and compassionate when others are in trouble, even if you have problems of your own. Others will admire your selflessness and will help you in due course.

Show moral courage. Do what is right, even if that makes you unpopular. I always thought it important to be able to look at myself in the shaving mirror every morning and not feel guilt or remorse. I depart this world with a pretty clear conscience.

Show humility. Stand your ground but pause to reflect on what the other side are saying, and back off when you know you are wrong. Never worry about losing face. That only happens when you are pig-headed.

Thanks to CS for "eat with ur family day" last week. I managed to knock off early and decided to bring J out for a "date with mummy"

He couldn't believe that it's just me and him..

We took a train -- just one stop. Guess he didn't make out the distance. He enjoyed the ezlink card entry and train ride!

Think what I treasure most in this short span of time is how we got to know each other more, going through thick & thin together. From being penniless, or rather in an ocean of debt, to a much more stable financial standing now, taking giant steps of faith together to get married, have children, buy a house, all these while we didn't have much... It has brought us together so close.

If I'm given a choice to relive everything, I'd gladly do it all over again the same way. Faith in God & love for one another has brought us through different trials & challenges.

Month of May is always a celebration month for us

Kenneth's birthday (last yr of the 20s)
My birthday - always 25 lol!!
Our wedding anniversary

This year we celebrated in marina bay sands!

Nice experience overall.
Free upgrade to club room
Thanks to the bochap staff's typo error and didn't bother to reply back.

Left the kids with mummy and wheeee we spent some quality time dating

Went for a quick swim and explored the sky bridge. Beautiful!
Probably we have a bird's eye view at pinnacle - the view didn't impress us alot.

I Love the infinity pool! How nice it will be if pinnacle has it too :)

Invited our dear friends over to celebrate Kenneth's birthday. Had a great time chit chatting

Jordan and Elly enjoyed the hotel room! And the bath tub..!

J and E fell asleep after our breakfast. As we were pushing 2 prams to shop around MBS, Elly woke up suddenly.

She looked around and scream alittle at us. As if she doesn't want to miss out shopping! Omg

Look at her shopping at Fendi. She smiled and posed with the Fendi girls' bag! Amazing girl!!!

My birthday present!!! Fendi handbag :) summer series. Love it lots! Thanks dear, I love u!

We also had a brief family dinner at jinshan. Not bad.. But guess it will only be a one time. They served the food too quickly!

Another episode of the week goes to Jordan's first day of school.

Today was his second day. We said bye-bye and left him there.
Was told by Ms Eunice that he cried and slept for 15 mins. Woke up and enjoyed lesson. Eat quite alot.. Hope things will get better as it goes

Today was a great day for me!

tough week...

Last week was the hardest I've had this year

On Tuesday, dad had a heart attack at the office
-------
It was the first time I've seen my dad in so much pain...

He was breaking out in cold sweat & had cold arms when I supported him
-------
Throughout the journey in the car, I was worried, but heard a still small voice
"Everything will be alright"
-------
Brought him to SGH A&E
[Side note: Service was really fast as it was an emergency... Been reading quite a bit of A&E services being slow. I guess they really do prioritize patient's conditions]
-------
When I reached the A&E after parking the car, I was asked to go to a room...
-------
I saw 3 doctors, & probably 5-7 nurses tending to daddy...
that was when I started to really worry
[I understood why we need to walk by faith & not by sight...]
-------
"Is it that serious???!!!"
-------
He underwent an angiogram to ascertain the current condition
His 3 main arteries in the heart were all blocked...
one with 100% blockage, another 2 with 70-80%
-------
In that very evening, he was scheduled for an angioplasty & the surgeon inserted a stent into his heart artery to clear the one with 100% blockage
-------
Thank God that everything went smoothly & he was looking better at night
-------

Dad's scheduled for another angioplasty in June,
where the other 2 artery blockages will be dealt with
=======
He needs to recover from the current operation before his heart can take another operation
=======
2 weeks ago, he went cycling with Serena, Jordan, Elly & myself
=======
It probably was the exercise that caused his heart to pump harder than usual
as he had not exercised for the longeest time
=======
Whether it was a blessing in disguise?
I'll never know...
=======
But I thank God that his heart problem was discovered early,
& the doctors were able to deal with the main problem successfully
=======
Just pray that everything will go on smoothly from here!
=======

This morning I carried her out of her cot.
Noticed that she soiled herself badly (Well, she didnt cry at all). I changed for her.

After that when I was carrying her she pulled my face over and gave me a smooch on the face.

Celebrating Jordan's 2nd birthday

Soooo happy that Jordan is 2 years old!
Officially Tmr is the day.

We had a celebration for him last night.

Thanks all for ur presents and ur presence to celebrate for him.
It meant alot to him and me :)

Decided to have a small and family celebration for him.
So that he's comfortable with everyone!

Yea! It went perfect and he was really happy.

He enjoyed the balloons, new toys and people he loves.

He saw his all-anticipated BARNEY cake. He was so excited and stretched out his hands and grabbed the cake. Until he felt the squashy feeling of the cream.. He knew something is wrong. Hahaha
All of us went LOL!

Didn't expect him to do that either

He was also all already for the birthday song and blow off his candles at a timely manner.. Woohoo proud of this boy's progress

New medicine needs more testing

Elly took an injection a few weeks back that led to a rash reaction...

It was a relatively new drug introduced to build the immunity of babies to more viruses

It was reported in Straits Times that Japan had banned the drug due to 3 infant deaths that were suspected to be related to the injection. All 3 cases happened after the babies took the injection.

For now, I thank God that Elly is safe & well.

Drugs are really double-edged.

Too much work recently - overloaded
Working late almost everyday

Ytd night, Jordan and I were sat in the kitchen with a bag of fish-shaped biscuits.
I went "the fishes in the sea swim round n round round n round" with actions
Next second, I saw him taking a fish and put close to his face and making the fish swim! And "um" the fish ended in his mouth
Lol!
Then he wanted me to imitate him
Lol!

It's fun to play with them!

And Elly starting on some solid food.
Hope she gets more interested in it soon.

She started "crawling"! Or rather wriggling to where she wants to go

It has been a year filled with many happenings!

Never felt that 365 days could be jammed packed with so many things

In the beginning of the year, we started on the renovation plans of our home

& shortly after, shifted in!

The joy of having our own house has probably grown bigger

due to not having one since getting married + having a child

We couldn't have asked for a better HDB flat!!!

It's really a joy seeing him start walking =)

& the times where he tried on his "adult" shoes were so cute

We received news from the bank for business loan facilities approval

All the facilities are gonna really help with the company expansions & cash flow aspects

After several years of valley-times, we're finally moving forward!

Now, we're all ready to move up!

Oh yes! When Elly was borne, we were also really blessed as Credit Suisse made an exception for Serena's case & offered her the 4 months maternity leave even though it wasn't an entitlement for contract staff

That was a huge relief!

With the housing loan, reno loan & some furniture instalments ongoing,

we couldn't afford going through the 4 months with unpaid leave!

Woo hoo ...
Proud of my little gal!

She enjoys standing up with us just holding on to her little fingers!

3 days ago, she just made her first rollover!
Hahaha she rolled over and realized she didnt like lying on her front. She struggled and rolled back.

We let her try on her kor kor's walker.
She did her first reverse walking in it! (just like Jordan did)

After a while she started screaming (guess she's tired)
She's so dainty. I thought it would take her longer to develop such skills

Looking at little sister playin in walker, Jordan wanted to sit in it after we got her out

We had a Jordan-day-out yesterday!
I guess we really got to spend some quality time with him alone.
It's always with Elly or with other family members.

Hahaha

He enjoyed himself at wild wild wet! (Thanks Tina for ur tickets)
He scared of the exciting environment actually.
He had one slide attempt and was so scared to carry on
I think he enjoyed the shiok river with Daddy carrying him.

We had a long time of "discussion" before we finally decided to try the Pictionary Man...

Then we made milk for the kids & sayang them to sleep, open & clear our letters & finally, some (most looked forward to) "WE-Time" before we sleep-which was like about midnight!

Elly woke up at 5+ for milk... Then didn't want to sleep... Poor Serena had to stay awake for a while. After a while, I miraculously manage to wake up to change shifts with her.

To Elly, I'm a walking, comfy & cosy "baby cot"

She just likes to sleep in my arms (just like her mum!)

Dear said that there's this sense of security feel when she's in it

Anyway, she slept shortly after & we were about awake again in a while to bring the kids to my parents place & then off to work

I was told that when I become a parent, God would miraculously expand my capacity!

Overall, my parents had a great time + taking care of the grandkids

We had fun working together for dinner.

We decided on spending our weekend on a getaway just in SINGAPORE.

Turn out to be a good choice!

Reached Resort World Sentosa on Sunday about 3 plus 4.

Thanks to Thomas who gave us his privileges and guided us the way.

We really appreciate this gesture! Made our day sooooo much.

We gotta park our car a distance again and transported by a buggy to the hotel lobby.

Interesting!

After checking into the room, everyone was in awe of the room design. Lotsa surprises!

The hotel is really designed for families.

They provided a kids welcome pack with kids' toothbrush!

A loft bed for kids. TOo dangerous for Jordan to sleep there tho.

He managed to climb up the stairs himself. Phew.

Jordan can't wait to check out his kiddy room slippers.

After a while he got hungry and tot that it's cool to drink his milk in Elly's cot.

hahaha. We had a peace of mind with him in the cot.

We had a room with a balcony view of the swimming pool.

Very nice!

Went for a swim downstairs. Elly swam too. :)

After the swim, the kiddos were knocked out. The adults had a good meal at Fiesta. Brazilian food. BBQ meat. Nice food. Portion is too little for my daddy la. :)

Next morning we had breakfast at Toast box and went to Universal Studios!

We ENJOYED ourselves. Tired but enjoyable.

My parents went for the "Revenge of the mummy" ride too.

That was something. hahaha

Glad that at least we took one ride of so many others.

The trip was Jordan-centered.

Jordan was checking out the "stars" on the floor.

For this "king Julien-Madagascar" ride. Jordan was so looking forward to it while queueing! Half way, grandma decided not to ride it as it will give her dizzy spells. He tot that we are not playing anymore. He screamed and yelled.

After the first round, he wanted a second round.

Well, from the pictures, you can tell that it was a fruitful day.

Jordan had alot of "mais" aka "don't want"

Especially the mascots..

Anyway he still enjoyed himself! :)

Next day, Tan grannies came over to spend the holiday with us.

We went to underwater world.

Hmmm... Jordan was scared of the fishes.

Ended the holiday with a blast!

Good start for my work next month :)

Jordan blow bubbles

For the first time, Jordan is able to blow bubbles by himself.

He also tasted some soapy water! hahaha

He was happy after his first successful attempt.
